We've put together some commonly asked questions to give you more information about our conference. If you have a question that isn't answered here, please contact Jesse Ketterman, at jketterm@umd.edu.
Q. I'm excited about the 2024 PFS-- but I can't participate in the 'live-stream event'. Will the 2024 Personal Finance Seminar be recorded?
A. Yes! We believe that providing the event recording adds tremendous value to this professional development opportunity! Everyone that registers for the event will receive a link to the recording. For those that don't register in advance, the recording will be available for purchase after the event, as well!
Q. I'm not sure if this event is right for me; Who should attend UME's Personal Finance Seminar for Professionals?
A. PFS participants-- regardless of their backgrounds and roles-- learn about today's most critical financial issues and about how their clients or audiences may be impacted. UME's Personal Finance Seminar for Professionals is relevant to a multi-disciplinary field of professionals-- especially those who interact with individuals, groups, and/or communities regarding any aspect of financial wellness. Many PFS attendees are Accredited Financial Counselors (AFC®), certified through the Association for Financial Counseling and Planning Education (AFCPE), but our relevance and reach extend even further!
Through the years, the University of Maryland Extension PFS planning team has been deliberate in responding to the expressed needs of a wide spectrum of service providers, including personal finance professionals from public, private, and not-for-profit organizations, including all branches of the military. Additionally, educators, social workers, volunteers, and a broad range of individual and community advocates have consistently shared with us that UME's PFS has served as a valuable piece of their development as professionals, and that the themes and resources have been highly relevant within the scope of their various roles.
Q. I will need a Certificate of Attendance- how do I request one?
A. All registered participants can request a general Certificate of Attendance from University of Maryland Extension (often used to maintain a record of your professional development, or to provide to your employer, as needed).
At the time of registration, you will have the option to indicate if you require a Certificate of Attendance. Certificates will be sent after the conference to the email used on the registration form.
Q. Are there any CEUs offered for this event?
A. 6 AFC® CEUs have been approved through the Association for Financial Counseling and Planning Education (AFCPE) for this event. Within the registration questions, you will be asked to indicate your need for the AFC® CEU Code.
Q. I already registered for PFS, but can no longer participate. Can I cancel my registration?
A. If you are unable to attend the live-stream event on the scheduled date for the PFS, you will still have access to the recording and all supplemental materials! Unfortunately, refunds can not be issued for cancellation of registration for this event.
Q. I want to stay up-to-date on all things related to PFS! Does UME's PFS have a Facebook page?
A. Of course we do! 'Like' us on Facebook to stay in-the-know and to follow along as we draw closer to the conference date.
