For over 20 years, Maryland Woodland Stewards have reached out to Maryland’s individual woodland owners and managers to teach them sound forest management practices that result in better overall forest health and more abundant and diverse wildlife. By passing along this gift of knowledge for over 20 years, the impact is profound. This report summarizes the first 20 years of volunteer forest stewardship education, lessons learned, and discusses the importance of the future Maryland Woodland Stewards program.
